about how the world is coming to an end, and that if we don’t do something TODAY all will be lost, are much more silent when the science proves them wrong.


How many times have you been told that the melting glaciers would raise the sea levels and all the poor nations would die, and the coastline would be gone?

This isn't the first time I've seen someone lift a single sentence or phrase out of an article and try to use it to contradict the meaning of the article it came from, and I doubt it will be the last. We have a lady who comes here who can't read without doing this. The trouble is, after doing it with 4-5 pieces about CO2 she's come up with a whole new form of matter!
 
While I'm all for protecting the environment, I absolutely agree with you. The environmentalists are always stating that the world is coming to an end, we're destroying the earth, blah blah, blah. I suppose that they need to generate money by lobbying politicians, too, so that they can keep ranting and raving...

Y'know, when I was growing up, I was told that the ozone layer was dissipating at an alarming rate. Now I've heard that It's not as bad as once suspected, and may actually be repairing itself in some manner. Whatever. I have other things to worry about, like educating the youth, my rent, and being able to retire one day, because I guarantee that social security will be gone long before the ozone layer is. From what I've read and extrapolated, by the time the environment is in shambles, I'll be maggot food anyway.

errr mate, it stopped getting worse because CFCs (man made gasses) which were destroying it were banned under an international treaty (montreal).......it will take another 50 odd years to 'repair itself somehow'.......
 
Except for that the science is on our side.

Isn't it funny when certain people who think it is cool to be "conservative" and listen to "talk radio" get a single "fact" or opinion and then run with it as if it disproves thousands of scientific studies and an enourmous block of research by the international science community?

Isn't it funny when those same people generalize and group people as "liberals" or "radical enviros" whenever they hear something that may affect their favorite radio personality's so called "credibility" as the smartest person in the world?

Keep on keeping on clones - let the "liberals" and the "radicals" save your sorry butt by caring about stuff that could affect our children and our children's children.
 
The world has been coming to an end for a very long time. I don't understand the Chicken Little mentality, but I guess they do not teach that parable in school anymore.

I no longer care if Global Warming is real or not. I have heard endlessly about Global Cooling, then Alar, then DDT, and now Global Warming. The world coming to an end in 10 years warning that is now 15 years old is just too much.

Chicken Little was ignored when there really was a crisis, and the reason was because everything was about getting attention, not the crisis.

Now, the Chicken Littles are still at it, and wondering why we don't believe that the sky is falling. It is because we have all heard this song and dance before. I am glad that they believe it and want to do something about it, but leave me out.

They do not seem to get the fact that we are absolutely tired of the scare tactics. They no longer work. Give me facts, give me science, and allow those that disagree with you to debate the topic. If it is too serious an issue to debate (which I have heard numerous times) then they should have limited themselves to ranting about real, proven issues, not about every little thing that comes along.

If they are wrong about Global Warming, then they will have even less credibility the next time a "crisis" comes around. If they are right about it, and the world will end, well, at least I won't have to listen to the rants afterward. Win-win in my book.
