Islamic group gives warning to South Park creators for 200th episode...

It works, doesn't it? That's the problem with setting a precedent like this. Why wouldn't future wackos make vague threats when they realize they can get their way and law enforcement won't touch them.

I'm seeing both sides of this. I usually find it hilarious when South Park or Family Guy make fun of Jesus. But I sometimes get quite offended when Robot Chicken makes fun of Jesus.

You know, this whole ordeal crystallizes one fact that Westerners seem deathly afraid to acknowledge: not all Middle-Eastern Muslims are terrorists, but all Middle-Eastern terrorists are Muslims.

Consider how in 2005 Muslims teenagers rioted and basically shut down Paris, and the French media referred to them only as "youths." Or how the British Home Secretary changed "Muslim terrorism" to the completely inane-sounding "Anti-Islamic activity." Or just last year when a Muslim shot up Fort Hood and killed 14 people (including a pregnant woman) and the media tied themselves in knots trying to downplay the Islamic nature of the crime. The message is clear: threaten, harass, and terrorize and we'll give you exactly what you want in hopes you'll leave us alone.

That is very, very dangerous.

But you don't propose that it would be legitimate for its creators to die for doing it. This is one of those times where there really isn't another side to reason with. It's perhaps more tragic than funny really because that huge element of "200" is, in fact, pretty much not satire. They literally put Muhammad in a bear suit and that was too much.

Anyhow, the source is a radical website. I find it laughable that the group tries to cover by saying no threats are being made. Of course there are. They're nutty extremists that have so far done a good job walking on a thin line.

That's a founder of this insane group. Among other things, he also told CNN that 9/11 was justified. But of course, he doesn't encourage violence on American soil. Of course.

This stuff is why Muhammad should never be censored anywhere at any time. There are nuts in this world that simply cannot be pacified. Also, just on general principle, screw censorship.

Feh.

I like how Parker and Stone have clearly pointed out the absurdity of all this nonsense when they actually had an animated appearance by Muhammed in an earlier episode and NOTHING HAPPENED!

None of this controversy started in the global media until that Dutch cartoonist story came out.

Haha, I'm a Buddhist myself and I laughed out loud at the scene of him inhaling a joint, especially when Jesus tells him to stop it while himself looking at pornography. Honestly, everyone needs to stop getting butt-hurt over these little jokes.

*sigh*

Comedy Central might just chicken out and show "Not Without My Anus".

I'm a Christian as well, but all I do is try not to laugh when they mock Jesus. To be honest though, I couldn't help but crack up when they had Jesus drop an F-bomb in the "The Mexican Staring Frog of Southern Sri Lanka" episode, because it was just so out of left field. Now, I just try not to laugh.

I think Westerners know it just fine. It's the media and politicians who are trying to whitewash the 'Islamic' our of Islamic Terrorism. If they dare tell it like it is, the advocacy and interest groups will smear them as racists and bigots. It's okay, though. You can already see the blowback starting with things like the minaret ban in Switzerland, and France, Quebec and Belgium moving to ban the face veils. If I were an Islamist, I'd be praying that another 9/11 level event doesn't happen. There will be no anesthetizing of the majority population if/when it does.

...and this just testifies even more to the hypocrisy of censorship. (Hey, if anyone wasn't looking - anyone notice that Buddha inhales a joint?)

You know, these people just make me sick. Their statement that 9/11 was justified, but saying violence is wrong? Has "hypocrisy" written all over it.
