is yoga good for loose ligaments? if so what type? or other types of exercise?

Im 16 years old and I recently found out i have hyperextended joints from loose ligaments and its causing mechanical arthritis. The only thing my doctor said i can do is to try to strengthen my muscles to help support my joints in a way that doesn't impact my joints a lot (so running would be bad) he said swimming or biking would be good, but I'd really rather find something else to do. Does anyone have any ideas? I thought about yoga but I'm not sure what kind to do and if that much stretching would just make the problem worse. I have joint discomfort pretty much everywhere about 24/7 and stretching seems to help for a few minutes but apparently over stretching makes my ligaments worse. They pop all the tieme and they hurt often too.
