Is working out still necessary if your day job is hard, manual labor?

Hi, guys. I'm a big guy. I'm 6"1' and weigh 255. I'm 27 years old. I'd like to drop about 40 pounds and tone up real good. I took a job several months ago that requires me to do some hard-core manual labor for around 9 hours a day. It's not even summer yet and it's already staying around 80 degrees every day. I sweat and keep my heart rate up all day long. I come home sore every day and I'm too exhausted to even attempt a work out routine. I don't really have any set rules for what I will allow myself to eat, but I do follow an 1800 calorie diet (which often keeps junk out of my diet). And I know I burn off more than 1800 every day. I've already lost about 20 pounds in the last 6 months by just having this job and staying under 1800 calories a day. That just seems like an awful slow rate to be losing. Is it alright that my job is my work out? Or do I need to man-up, push through it and make myself work out when I get home in the evenings?
