Is using fertilizers to speed fruit or vegetable dangerous to our health?

I have carrots, tomatoes and peppers growing in the yard. I have been feeding eat fertilizer for a month.
My neighbors plants are way bigger than my plants. Is it healthy for humans to use the fertilizer? Should I stop feeding it with fertilizer like miracle Gro?
