Is today's Republican party more in the image of Ronald Reagan or Timothy McVeigh?

the gop today would be unrecognizable to ronnie. Your assessment of the current gop---while scary---is not that far from tomothy mcveigh's.

You persist in asking these thought provoking and incendiary questions! Remember that this is yahoo answers, the National Enquirer of political thought and hyperbole first, and a reasonable forum of debate second. Here, there is little difference. In the real world there is an abundance of same with the outcome generally favoring the wicked and the powerful.

Your question is more valid than most here think, and it is an apt one.
If true patriot conservatives like Barry Goldwater and yes even Ronald Reagan (although he gets a lot of credit for things beyond his doing, but whatever), Anyway, if THEY could see what is happening to the Republican party today - they would roll over in their graves.

If a Barry Goldwater Republican existed today, America would be a much better place. Sadly, there are none.

it's neither. Timothy is way too extreme and Reagan is just a name they throw around like he would agree with them. They're more like the anti-communist brigades in the '50s.

Timothy was a government hating SOB that killed innocent people and no real republican that I know hates the government, they don't want the government controlling our lives. President Reagan loved our country, put God and America first, looked brightly on our future without having to be an apologist to nations that are jealous of us and was proud of his convictions without wavering.
