Is this verizon debt relief letter a scam?

I received a letter about the debt I owe Verizon. It states that they are offering me a onetime chance to pay off the amount that I owe them for a figure that is half of what my bill is to them. This seems to good of a offer, so I’m researching the possibility that this is a scam.

I doubt it. A lot of companies will make an offer like that in an effort to try to collect at least some of what is originally owed to them. I have received an offer like that in the past and it was legit.
 
Why don't you call up Verizon and ask THEM if the letter is legit or not?? Why are you making this harder than the phone call it takes to get your answer?
