He was waiting because of the Yakitori (skewered chicken). He would know that he would get the Yakitori, so he went there.

The third shocking thing was that people thought that he waited in front of the Shibuya Station. But actually, Hachiko was waiting in front of the college that Professor was teaching.

The fourth shocking thing. People thought that he was going to the Shibuya Station every time, after every day. But the real reason, after 2 years, he was sleeping at his house. He was staying at his house for 2 years AFTER the professor died.

So the ASSUMED story:
After Hachiko's master died, people assumed that he would go to the Shibuya Station every day after Professor Ueno died. This is what is assumed.

The REAL story:
After Hachiko's master died, Hachiko waited at home for 2 years, sleeping. Then, after the two years was up, he was waiting at the college the professor USED to teach. Then, after THAT, he went to the station. He would get Yakitori (Skewered chicken) every time he went there. That is the reason why he went to the Shibuya Station. Soon, Hachiko forgot about the Professor, then went to the Shibuya Station to get his Yakitori.

Scary, huh?
And
Shocking.
