Is this the new definition of 'racism' in the progressive lexicon?

1) slur used to condemn anyone with whom you may disagree in an attempt to marginalize and label an opponent's viewpoint bigoted irrespective of its content.

2) a term used to describe anyone who dissents from socialistic or fascistic governmental policy

3) anyone who disagrees with a progressive or who actually agrees with a conservative (irrespective of that person's actual race and/or skin color)

Is this why whenever a progressive brands a conservative, independent, or free-thinking liberal a "racist" it comes of as sounding so non sequitur in relation to the topics of debate?

When Republicans insult minorities, only to parade around the ones to support them so people won't see them as racist.

Oh the typical "poor whites are oppressed" same kind of skinhead poor-me rhetoric isn't it?

That about sums it up,or at least damn close.

Want to see REAL Racism, look at how Progressives/Democrats/Socialists treat almost any person of color who DARES to be a Conservative. Now that is Racism,on display in front of God and everyone.Any person of Color who DARES to step off the Democrat Plantation is treated as a sellout or worse.

Thank You Dylan for proving my point.

I've seen this sort of thing.

Sadly, the "racist" term has been thrown around so much lately that the word has become completely devalued.

What you're saying sometimes DOES happen. But, I've also seen it go the other way, when someone is actually called out on real bigotry and, they deflect the accusation by throwing the same language back at their accuser.

I call this the "I'm rubber, you're glue" defense.

Personally, I think more people could avoid this whole thing by being a little more pliable with what they consider "acceptable language." Certainly some people are less up to date with what terms are preferred. Some people innocently don't know any better. But, if no harm is intended, they could be politely reminded rather than publicly bludgeoned with the "racist" label.

Still, when harm is intended, that needs to be called out. By all of us. And, Ideally within our own ranks. If more TEA Partyer's denounced the disappointing word choice displayed on some of the signs carried by some of their membership, they'd have much more credibility on this whole thing.

Instead, it was publicly glossed over, buried and deflected. Deflected to the point where they started accusing civil rights activists of racism. Which is ludicrous.

At the heart of this issue is our country's unfortunate history with slavery, the systematic racism that was present in our Jim Crow laws, segregation, and those hidden traditions of persecution and lynching that remained in certain parts of our country.

This leaves us with the undeniable truth that white racism cannot be compared to black racism on equal terms. And, that has to be balanced against our present situation. It might seem unfair so long after the fact. But, it's not. It's reality.
