Is this style of play good for advancing in the big dance.?

I won't say what team I'm talking about. They run a full court pressure the entire game and rotate 11 deep to stay fresh. They rely on getting 30+ points off turnovers which they force mainly in the second half when their pressure and aggressive defense starts to take over. They own the last 5 minutes. If opposing guards have no trouble with the pressure defense the paint is wide open. But most teams can't get it to the paint. They are not great shooters, average in a half-court game, and have nobody over 6' 8". They were very successful this year. Can a team that plays like this advance to the final four?

a team like this can def be successful. it all depends on their execution on both sides of the court. judging by ur name, im guessing its mizzou. if so, i hope they are, im from the show me as well: fayette (right outside of columbia).

Personally, I don't think so.

Pressing is a little "gimmicky". If it doesn't work, they will be in a world of hurt.

The elite teams that you would except to find deep in the tournament should be able to break presses and get easy buckets.

Also, it doesn't sound like this team has an elite offense..I think a team that hopes to make a deep run, needs plenty of balance.

No because teams that make it to the elite 8 have great guards. Further the teams in the elite 8 will quickly burn by a full court press if it is applied all the time. Couple that with the fact this team lacks anybody over 6'8" and can not shoot the ball that well and they will be in trouble maybe as early as the sweet 16. Still they should win 1 game as long as the did not draw UNC, Louisville, Duke, etc.
