The story takes place in a fictional town in Central Minnesota during the summer of 2009.
Four close knit friends at the age of 15 summer is going as usual until The main character takes over a AA minor league team as owner because his great gradnfather owned it and left it to him. The main character Nick decides to take over the team as coach, thinking he can turn the lowly Blue Thunder into contenders in the 16 team minor league. A severe case of nervousness takes over Nick though in both his coaching game and playing game, as his centerfield position for the school team that he has been at his whole life is taken by a new kid. Soon after one of the four kids is severely injured and might not walk again, and through the trials Nick faces that summer he learns the importance of courage and confidence, in to not only yourself but in teammates, and a minor character even learns the importance of second chances.
