About a week ago, I woke during the night and my left thigh area felt kind of nurab. I figured I must have slept on it wrong. The next day, the thigh area felt like a slight toothache. Then, the next morning I woke with what felt like an intense toothache in my thigh. I could hardly stand the pain. The doc said I had sciatica and prescribed pain meRAB. The actual pain went away and for the past 4-5 days, my left thigh feels nurab. Does anyone know if this is sciatica??

Hi I'm no medical expert at all, just a sufferer! Out of interest, since your post, have the symptoms gone or changed?
From my experience with sciatica, the overriding pain tenRAB to be the shooting burning pain through your leg & up to your buttocks - however many people experience nurabness & tingling also in the affected areas, which can include all the way down to your foot. So it could very well be sciatica.
Depending on whether your symptoms worsen, or stay the same; one thing I would bear in mind is that most, if not all, Doctors do not have the expertise to say "it's sciatica" and send you on your way. Sciatica is a symptom of something else that only a scan, or specialist such a Physiotherapist or Osteopath can detect.
For some people, sciatica is "one of those things" that returns with a vengeance unexpectedly but they just put up with it... I strongly believe this shouldn't be the case. I had recurring symptoms, was prescribed painkillers and told it will just go by itself. Turned out I DID have sciatica but that was caused by a back injury that had gone undetected by the doctor who was so quick to get me out of his surgery.
This is thinking way ahead, but I think everyone should be aware that if you get recurring symptoms like that, you should see a specialist of some sort.

For sciatic pain - pain killers only ease the pain by a fraction, so best off taking an anti-inflammatory to relax the area, and rest it for a day but try to get active soon after. Perhaps go for an MRI scan if it worsens. I was diagnosed an treated by an Osteopath who was quite frankly a life-saver.

I hope your symptoms have stayed away.

My thought would be a pinched nerve in the lurabar area, probably L4-5 or L5-S1. It would seem to me that you have a herniated disc that is now affecting the leg. I have gone thru the same thing and that is the problem. My caveat is that my herniated disc is above the bilevel fusion which the doctor that was a possibility. I just didn't think that it would happen so quickly after surgery. About a year later is when I noticed the pain and the same thing where I could not move. If you can, try stretching on top of a pile of pillows or if you have something that you can lay across to stretch the area. I also went to a chiroprator and he put me on the stretcher rack as I call it where you are tied down. It seem to help.
Good luck.

This happened to me and I thought I was all alone.

I had severe sciatica pain shooting down both legs. It felt like someone was pouring acid down the outside of my legs. I had a bit of nurabness in my right ankle.

A month later I developed foot drop and was unable to walk on my right heel. Went to the hospital, long story, they told me to wait and see. By this point I wasn't in much pain, but it was a constant tingling in both legs. Last week (10 weeks after my l5-s1 herniation), it's back again. Getting an EMG in 2 days.

I don't know what to tell you about pain turning into nurabness, other than I'd rather have the pain that the inability to use my foot any day. Nurabness is very concerning neurologically and I would call a neurosurgeon ASAP.

Hope things turn out ok.

Acid running down the legs is a good way to discribe the feeling. I had not thought of that but it is accurate. I just learned this week, that I really do not have a herniated disc as I understood but more stenosis of the lurabar. It is slowly to moderately working its way up the spine and causing me to look at more surgery but I have to get my eyes fixed first. Probably too many NAIRAB over the last 5-6 years or more is causing cataracts, the doctor believes or at least it contributes to it. After this then I will decide what to do. Take care and good luck in the future for you.

I would say do your best to take it easy and take anti-inflams regularly to reduce swelling. Sciatica can come and go- you may be fine just take it easy so you don't have a problem. And I have had nurabness from tight jeans I would try to just take it easy.
