Is this piece of writing good?

I have to submit this for a scholarship, and I was wondering if it was done well enough for me to submit it. The topic is: What is your most meaningful activity you accomplished during your freshman year and why? It has to be a short essay- which is less than 300 words.
Please help, this is very important to me; anyone's opinion is important!

Being a part of the Drama Club had to have been the most meaningful activity I had participated in during my freshman year. By the time I had started school, acting was something I definitely wanted to include in my life. Auditioning for the show had to have been one of the hardest processes completed as a ninth grader. Because ninth graders aren’t as well represented in the Drama Club, getting any speaking role in The Man Who Came to Dinner would have been quite an honor to me.
Once I had found out that I had received the part of Richard Stanley, a supporting actor, it showed me that I had found something that I was really good at. This meant the world to me, as it made me feel like a part of something that I had been longing for. Not only was getting a part a pleasing component of this, but being a part of the show gave me the opportunity to meet a huge array of different people from all grades, that I probably would never have come across. It made me feel that along with academics, being a part of this club would be an amazing task. It revealed that people of all ages, race, religion, and orientation could have a similar passion.
During my time put in with the Drama Club my freshman year, I had put in over one hundred hours of volunteer service. I had also put in most of my time after school with rehearsal for the show from school’s end until sunset for fall’s entirety. Opening night of the play, I realized my love for the Drama Club. After finishing up my exhausting hard work, the end of the freshman year brought me my unexpected award. It had given me a lifetime membership to the highly praised International Thespian Society, another award that would not have been possible without my meaningful commitment to the Drama Club.
