Is this normal for Christians/Catholics, or do I just live in a trashy neighborhood?

So I live in a suburb in southern California, and the community pool is about 20 yards from my house. You can frequently hear splashes and kids yelling.

One morning, I hear a bunch of people singing hymn in Spanish. I found it really bizarre and looked outside. There were 30 adults there, all dressed in white robes with lit candles in their hands, and this priest was giving a sermon in Spanish. They're all gathered around the jacuzzi.

Anyway, then someone climbs into the jacuzzi and gets blessed by the priest. Then the next person goes in. Then the next. THEY WERE HAVING A FREAKIN' BAPTISM IN THE JACUZZI OF A COMMUNITY SWIMMING POOL.

So anyway, do people normally get baptized in jacuzzis or is this just weird?
I know Catholics are Christian, I wrote them separately because I thought it might have specifically been Catholic, seeing how most Hispanics are Catholic.
