Just as an example, say a person starts off as a simple Sales Associate in a Retail store, since Retail is one of the most prominent and widely available jobs nowadays. They stay there for a couple of years doing their job as a Sales Associate. They may start off part-time and work up to full-time. Then after a couple of years, somehow, they get promoted into a Team Lead/Manager. They work that for sometimes as little as a month or so, and others may continue in the new position for years. Then when they leave, they list their only job title at that job as "Team Lead/Manager" for all of the years that they worked there, including the time they were a Sales Associate before moving up.
Is this how so many idiots are getting better jobs and they are really unqualified for them, but use experience fibbing in this way to push their way in the door? The same thing with other jobs...office jobs, they start off as a Receptionist for x years. They move up to an office manager and then list the entire length of time as an office manager on their resume. With no indication or clue to the potential employer that they were anything else beforehand. Most jobs won't ask that detail when calling. Is this why so many people are incompetent?
Note also that when their manager that they worked under leaves, the memory of what their position was beforehead would not be there. So, instead, the new managers would take a quick look at their files and say "Oh, they were a Team Lead/Manager" and the new employer would be verified in the job applicant's lie.
