Is this even a proper or decent way to argue?

You'll find many people anywhere on line - news comment boards, youtube, here, wherever - who do this. They take a look at what a person says, or a person's argument and they pick out the points they want to argue with. Like they will actually QUOTE what the person said, followed by their counter argument. It seems as if they take only what you they can try to refute or have something to say about, and use their point against the other's point.

Now I'm not a debater, but it seems like they break it down, and it seems like they almost simplify the argument to beat it with a stick. I don't know how good in an argument using point against point is, but in the way I see it used sometimes, it doesn't seem right!

it can be alright but if you can grasp overall value of the comment you want to comment on, then you inform yourself. If not, you don't. You can simply enjoy picking a point or two if that means something good to you. But in real world, you cannot do that. In real world, you must understand the whole idea and the details - for good. That will give you inspiration and understanding. From that you can develop. But sometimes, picking a certain point can work too but with how you have understood what the comment really means.
