I am learning to drive right now and plan on buying myself a car for private practice and once I've passed my test. I've found a nice small car that will do the job but I was wondering if anyone can tell me a little bit more in general how it runs and the type of work that may need to be done on it. It's a little 1998 NISSAN MICRA 1.0 S. I've had a test drive and it appears to run well, however when my mum asked someone who she knew was into cars at work, he said that Micra's that old tend to need some work done on the welding underneath the car? It does not need an MOT until January next year however I'm worried that if I buy the car now, it will fail its MOT next year and I'll need to pay a lot of money to fix it. The car is most likely going to be repriced in a couple of days at £600, an ideal price for me. Also I will not need to pay road tax until December. What do you think? Worth buying?
