I'm thinking about making giant (so life size basically) Saffron flower's out of plastic garbage bags, metal wires, cardboard, and paper/newspaper. I have Senior Studio (in my final year for my art degree) this coming semester and I want to begin brainstorming now.
The Saffron flower was an extremely popular and used plant especially in older times, worldwide. It was used to make robes, perfume, spice in food, etc. The meaning of the flower is to "beware of excess and excess is dangerous".

Is this all to cliche? I have always had that issue in my art class, my prof says I'm too cliche so is there a way that I can make this not cliche? Is this too complex too? Because my prof also says that I make my meanings too complex and I pull in too many ideas at a time.
