Okay I am 19 F and healthy. The only health problem that I have is GERD. okay so for the past few days I have been getting a dull chest pain along with a throbbing feeling in my hanRAB and forearm. So finally, last night at about 4 in the morning I couldn't sleep because I was so worried about it! So I went to the ER and they did an EKG, CTA of my chest with dye, and a cardiac enzymes test. Everything came back normal. Well they noted that I have a calcified granuloma on my right lung. My BP was 113/70. and oxygen levels were 99%. They said they didn't know what was causing the pain!

I'm so scared that something is wrong with me! I have post-partum anxiety and I mainly just worry about my health. I'm about to lose it! I can't take it anymore :(

I have been taking Protonix for 30 days and I ran out of medication, So the past few days I haven't been taking my medicine. So I don't know If GERD can cause chest pain along with pains in my arms? Or does anyone with anxiety get this?!

PLEASE HELP ME!! :(

Hi

I was diagnosed with GERD about 8 months ago. Shortly after the GERD diagnosis I began to experience nagging chest pain on my sternum. The first time it was very severe, to the point that I could not move and I automatically thought it has heart-related. It lasted about 20 minutes and from then on it is only a nagging pain that intensifies whenever I lift something heavy or stretch my shoulders back. It is the worst when I wake up in the morning and when I turn to my side when I sleep. My doctor says this pain is related to my GERD, but I haven't really had any GERD symptoms (nausea, vomiting, etc..) so I am skeptical about the diagnosis. The pain is not a burning type of pain... more like a bruise, and I feel as if it "pops" when I sneeze or stretch too much. Does this sound like your pain? Im desperate too! This pain is defintely worrisome and very annoying.
I'm sorry I'm not so helpful =( I hope someone out there knows what this is.

Good luck,

Yara

hey kendra...im 19 also and get the same thing you get...my doctor gave me protronix and i just ran out today...uh oh.... anyways, i was worried about it too, but i guess its normal? lol

Hey kendra, I too have been suffering from similar pains in my chest. After doing avid online research I've narrowed it down to what I believe is costochondritis. It's basically inflammation of the cartilage that connects your upper rib to your sternum. It is most common in children and adolescents (although, I'm 24), affects more females than males, and will generally go away without treatment (if this is indeed what you have. Of course I'm no doctor, so get a professional opinion :))
But also, I read something on tietze syndrome.. which is similar, but includes radiating pain in your arms or shoulders, and increased pain when sneezing, coughing, or stretching. So that might be one to research too..
But on a side note: I've been suffering from anxiety for yeeeeears. When I get anxious, nervous, or stressed, I vomit uncontrollably. I first researched GERD because of the pain in my chest and I thought it might be related to the fact that I vomit more than most... but the symptoms of GERD don't really fit too well with me. So good luck figuring all this out, and I hope my research can be of some use.
