Is this a wisdom tooth?

the left side of the back of my mouth has been hurting for the past few days and i figured it was one of my tonsils infected. but i was just poking around and i touched a lump in my gums behind my top molar and it really hurt. there is no visible tooth just a tooth size lump in my gum. its only on my left side. it only hurts when i touch it or swallow however. any ideas what this may be? i figured it was wisdom teeth but im not sure, should i wait and see what happens? ive heard they can grow in normally but not often. im 16 and i turn 17 in april. the pain is bad but its not unbearable. thanks in advance and sorry for the bad formatting, really tored
