Is this a possible renewable energy source?

Why not bring water under pressure up from the depths of the sea, and use it to power electrical generators on the surface? I once saw a video of one of the first experimental diving bells and it leaked at depth. When they brought it to the surface, they had a guy stand off to one side and while reaching through a port hole, he started undoing a bolt on the hatch of the unmanned diving bell. He didn't get far when the bolt unscrewed itself under pressure and all the water inside shot out over the bow of the ship. If that water had been directed at a generator turbine wheel, it could have generated electrical power....for free.

Is this a possibility? What am I missing?
Thank you all so far. Let's see what some other answers bring.
