is this a legitimate reason for joining the army these days?

i am 16 and am signing up for the marines as soon as i can. i am hoping to graduate college and become an officer in the USMC. i dont want to be an officer who is safe in the tactics room, i want to be leading from the front and risking my life whenever it's my duty to

i only want to join the army because i want to give back to society. i know this girl that i really like who lives far away from me, and i want to fight for her and other American peoples freedom (and other innocents worldwide)

i dont buy the "be all you can be" hype because realistically i could go on to get a very well paying business job, i go to private school, get good grades and live in a rich family. but im unhappy with my life and i see joining the military as helping someone else.

is this a legitimate reason in modern times when America is not going to get invaded or anything, we're fighting a foreign war that probably isnt saving many American lives or American freedoms. i see myself enlisting for 5 years and then getting a city job.

i'm only picking the marines because they sound the coolest and are as front line as any other infantry unit (i think)
lol that was funny! i probably wont be talking to her in 5 years time so forget about her
