The Red Scare began in 1917, but continued into the early 1920’s. This was marked by the antiradical legislation in U.S. immigration laws. The U.S. was beginning to remove anyone suspected of communist, anarchist, or other unpatriotic activities from the country (these people were referred to as “reds”.) Anyone even associated with these people were considered suspicious. To summarize this time period, it was a time of strong anti-communist feelings in the U.S. and the fear that a Bolshevik Revolution in the U.S. was imminent.
