I found this deal on Amazon for a new phone.

T-Mobile myFaves SideKick ID
List Price: $299.99
Amazon Price: $99.99 when purchased with new service plan.

Save: $200
Rebate: $50
After Rebates: $49.99

T-Mobile myFaves 300 Minutes $39.99/month (unlimited nights and weekends)
Sidekick Unlimited Data $20/month
myFaves Unlimited Text, Instant, Picture and Video Messages $9/month (Do I really need this?)

Standard Shipping $4.99

Now, I ALREADY have my own phone number and SIM card. Can I keep my phone number and still get this deal? I NEED a new phone LOL

Note: This will be a last ditch effort if I cannot get T-Mo to budge and do a warranty alternate handset exchange on my nonfunctional Pearl to the SK ID. This is my 2nd Pearl and 3rd phone total in 2007.

Any ideas, suggestions, etc. are welcome. Thanks.

Why would you go from a Blackberry to a Sidekick ID? Only phones I would get besides a BB from the Tmobile lineup is the Tmobile MDA or Tmobile dash/Wing. But even those arent as reliable as a BB. Depending on your budget I know a great phone you can get unlocked that would be perfect to replace the BB. Thing is it is like $500. lol, and no its not a Iphone. good Luck with your decision.

Only reason I am going from the BB to the ID is because the Sidekick has been stable for me in the past. It doesn't crash as much as the BB does in my opinion. I have had 4 Sidekicks compared to 10 BlackBerry devices. I have also had Windows Mobile in the past and have had a total of 6 of them.

are you planning to buy it on the service agreement, or for the $299 and continue with your existing account? to get it for 49.99, it's signing another 2 year term, on another SIM card. So you'll have 2 bills for the next 2 years.

I am disconnecting my BlackBerry Service (after 11 devices). I want to keep the same phone number I have had for about 2 years now (which is connected to my SIM card). I don't want to be paying 2 bills especially if one is connected to a phone that does not even turn on.

What I might do is email those package details to T-Mobile and ask them if they can come close to that deal so I can keep my current number but get rid of the BIS service.

well on amazon you'll have to activate a new line fo service for those deals, and abide by their contract rules. so usually you cant change your pan for i think 6months and if you cancel that line before the contract is over they charge ou their etf as well as t-mobile charging you their etf. and with the sidekick you wouldn't have to add the messaging bundle. the sidekick plan includes unlimited data and sms/mms emails and im for the 20$.
what type of problems are you having with your pearl. i know sometimes it could be certain apps that causing your device to run slow, or to act up, or even the amount of apps that you have. it's kind of a downgrade, but it's your decision, if you could give me a better description of what's going on maybe we can get it working.
usually when it comes to alternate exchanges t-mobile has devices that would be comparable to the device that's being exchanged. they usually won't give you a sidekick if you are using a blackberry. it's a professional device so they won't exchange it for a non professional device, if that makes any sense. it would be like a carpenter taking some of his tools to get fix/exchanged and getting back tools for baking a cake. (if that makes any sense)

I've seen several of your posts where you talk about the numerous Blackberries and other other devices you've been through in a short time. Are you by chance.... Electro-girl? Your body sending out electrical charges that are frying these things???? LOL.

Seriously though, what's going on with all of them? Are they all the same problems? Or are some electrical and some physical?

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~ Since April 2005 I have had 11 8lackBerry devices.

I had 2 7730's lose signal so bad I couldn't do anything with them.

Same thing with my first 7100t plus it had a power button get mshed in to where I couldn't use it. Second one got lost in an alternate handset exchange thru TMobile. I got that one 4 months after I was supposed to and sent it back because I had already gotten my first 7105t. I am using the third one right now. Only issue with it is the power button that made me exchange 7100t # 1.

First 7105t quit holding a charge due to a loose USB port. Second 7105t's trackwherl locked up and I couldn't click anything with it.

First Pearl shut down and so did the one I have now.

I have a 950 I got years ago but AOL no longer offers their Mobile Communicator service which is why I bought it.

1. I have had several instances where I can't reply to PIN messages. I got an Uncaught Exception Error two times back to back.

2. Every OS I have had wipes my BlackBerry Messenger contact list. The password that you are promoted to enter does not work at all to recover these contacts.

3. I have had several instances where for no reason at all (unless it's TWO faulty portable battery chargers back to back but I doubt it seriously) my Pearl goes into constant self-rebooting cycles and the only solution (that I have done MANY times) is to wipe and reload the OS. I have lost count of this.

4. I couldn't type a link in BB Messenger on the first Pearl with the TIM Italy OS without getting an Uncaught Exception error message. I upgraded to the Telstra OS and solved that problem.

5. Opera Mini and JiveTalk would freeze and give Invalid Parameter errors unless I deleted and reinstalled them. This lasted until the Rogers OS.

I guess my problem is that I can't find a problem-free OS for the thing. But, for me, 10 BlackBerry devices in 4 years is beginning to become a bit frustrating.

Update: I just tried to get Desktop Manager to detect the device with THREE different batteries (the OEM yellow battery, and both Seidio's Slim Extended Battery and the large Extended Battery). DM would not detect the device with either battery or with no battery at all.

I am reinstalling the OS on my PC also.

EDIT: After reinstalling the OS on my PC, connecting the BB to the PC with and without a battery, the PC will not detect the BB. I guess I will be cancelling my BIS service and go back to my Sidekick 3. Thanks for the help.

in regards to number 1. that happens from time to time, i've had that issue but not ot often. it is usually recommended that no matter what device you have that you power t done and for maybe 30seconds power it back on, just so it won't get caught on a down or congested tower. and sometime withyou device being on fro so long you'll get these messages. I know i've done a battery pull and it would be fine. This has probably happened to me maybe 2 or 3 times since the pearl has came out. it usually happened to me because I had way to m any conversations going on at one time

2.When uploading new software you actually have to back up your information before you start the upload. and then when you load the new os you have the option of restoring your information, and you won't lose anything. no matter what os i've gotten I've kept everything. And I've upgraded to i think to four os on my pearl, and 2 on my87oog, and i think 1 on my 7105t

3. I'm not to sure about the rebooting cycles, I know that iusually if your device is having issues then it will automatically go into a reboot to fix it which i think is pretty neat. For instance my buddy at work wa saying how his pearl was moving sow and something else was happening to it, then two minutes later it went into a reboot and the problem was solved. you shouldn't have to reload an OS for that.

4.Well problem number 4 was because you were using another cmpanies OS, that's not t-mobile issue or blackberry issue. It's an issue with those service providers OS.

5. Well these are all 3rd party apps.you use those at your own risk, that what every one says. If it doesn't work properly, it probably is an issue with the software it self, or with how it was downloaded to the phone (which happens from time to time where not all the parameters for the software weren't downloaded properly)Also it could be some settings that might not have been set on your phone

I think going to a sidekick id is a big mistake you are losing out on so many features. I think the sidekick is a great device but going from a blackberry to a sidekick is a huge downgrade. But it is your decision ultimately and I hope you make the right one

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~ I have hard reset and soft reset the phones more times than I can count.

The reboot cycle I am referring to is that the device shuts down, the white screen shows up for 2 seconds with the hourglass, the red led flashes for 2 seconds and then the device shuts down again.

The last OS to give me problems with my Pearl is the TMobile US release.

I am happy to hear those of you who have never had a problem with a BlackBerry. I just wish I was fortunate enough to say the same. Right now I am just too frustrated to wait for another OS release only to have the same issues down the road.
