Is this a good lifestyle change?

I use to eat no breakfast, and no lunch, and only a big meal at about 18:00 at night. I picked up at least 8kg which I am now trying to shake off. I have changed my eating habits, I now eat All Bran Flakes(lots of fibre) for breakfast and lunch and then mostly fish, chicken and salad at night. I am also running about 1.5 miles everyday. Will this be effective, or do I need to change something?
