is this a good idea for surf fishing?

fishing in queensland australia for starters on the beaches.

heard its quite rough there

im not sure if this is a good idea so would like some help - i saw this rig where it had alot of small split sinkers down the line above the hook and sinker

would any1 recommend this??
what would be some disadvantages and advantages of this
