That's actually a pretty rare Pontiac because it was only made for 2 years. The seller didn't provide very much info on the car so it's hard to say for sure if it would be a good car for you. But I'll give you some facts about those cars to help you decide.

The 1980 Turbo Trans Am's featured a 301ci Pontiac V8 with a Garret turbocharger feeding boost into the carburetor. It was the first production car with a turbo V-8 engine. I initially was going to tell you that it would probably be a maintenance hassle, but after doing some research I found that many of those engines have gone over 150,000 miles with only regular maintenance. It really was quite an innovative engine for its time!

Is it fast? Well, that depends on your definition of fast. The 4.9 turbo V8's make a lot of low RPM torque and pretty reasonable horsepower. I'm pretty sure you will have to run the car on 92 ocatane premium fuel to safely avoid engine detonation from the turbo boost.

If everything looks good and you decide to buy it, this is what I would do first:
-Change the oil, spark plugs, wires, and air filter (go with MSD wires and a K & N filter)
-Change the factory rear gears to lower ones like 3.55's or 3.73's for better acceleration.

I'd go for it if everything checks out OK! You'll get lots of attention for sure! I love 70s/80s GM cars and I own a 1978 El Camino 350. They're fun to tinker around with!
