Is this a good book idea?

It's about a man who's ambushed in WWII and wakes up on a park bench in the middle of Germany. His family is told that he died and his body was burned. Meanwhile in Munich, he starts a new life, with a new name and never remembers who he is, until a battle is started in Munich and a us soldier sees him. After having a breif talk with his commander, he is shipped back to the us, where he is reunited with his family. Sorry for using a run-on sentence.
Q2: Does a young age effect a publisher's opinion?
 
Sounds like a good story, as long as you do your research and get the history correct as well as everything that goes along with that time period.
If you're asking if your young age as the author would be an issue, than no, not really. A lot of young authors have recently been getting published.
 
That's very interesting. Does he fall in love with somebody in Munich?

I hope young age doesn't affect opinion, I'm a young writer too. You might not even want/need to mention your age, because you want your manuscript to be good on it's own, not thought of as "good for a #-yearold."
 
It would be a good idea, but it would be even better if (unless you are in Munich) to set the beginning in a place you're familiar with, so you know the small details that make glimpses around a setting so interesting. Even research online to look at pictures from that era, or at a public library with the reference librarian's help should get you on your way.

You will also need to know the US military, some WW II history, and then you can more easily write the scenes leading up to the protagonist's reunion with his family, an easier scene to write, perhaps. Fun, though, all the way around.
 
I agree w/ the other answerer's. As long as this is well-researched, I would love to read it.
No, a young age does not affect a publisher's opinion. As long as you have a great story, they will take you (though it isn't easy getting published at all.)
 
Don't post these things on YA. Just write. Chances are you probably aren't going to get published in the near future if you're a teen. Just write it, and don't worry what other people think. Maybe this project will make your writing better, so your next project will have a better chance of being published. Stephanie Meyer and JK Rowling didn't ask people's approval before they started writing.

No, young age doesn't effect publisher's oppinion. It's whether you can write or not is what effects their oppinion.

Sorry if I sound harsh, but it's most likely true that you won't be getting published any time soon. That doesn't mean you WON'T get published, just not soon.

To refute what someone else has said, you have to mention your age because if you're under the age of 18, then your parent has to sign publishing contracts and stuff like that.
