Have just put in a new car battery. Conducted following tests with a multimeter hooked up at the battery terminals:
Step 1: when engine is stopped, 12.82V
Step 2: started engine and engine is at idle speed: first 13.8V, then in a few seconds, dropped to 12.14V
step 3: turned on head lights: 12.07V
step 4: stopped engine: 12.41V
step 5: restart engine at idle speed: measured 14V then in a few seconds, dropped to 12.14V
step 6: press gas pedal for a few seconds: 12.10V
step 7: stopped engine: 12.38V
Does this confirm this is a bad alternator? Thanks.
