if its been sitting for any length of time the clutch plate will be stuck to the flywheel...i answerd a similar question the other day..follow these steps....
what you do is...
hand brake on
foot on brake
stick it in first
foot on the clutch...then start the engine...it may take a couple ot turns of the key before it brakes free...after which youll get a smell for a few miles till the rust is worn away,no harm will have been done....
if it doesn't start...you need to push it somewhere on a strait road...
put it in gear,1st
foot on clutch and start it,now if it doesnt breke free strait away simply drive it slow[with foot on clutch] hand brake on and off and throttle on and off,you want to make it rock, this should break away the clutch....done it many times on bikes/cars that have been sitting for any lenght of time...hope this helps.
