If the primary reason for teaching is to inspire a thirst and love for learning why are so many of the present generation graduating college have such a disinterest in nature, history, science, craftmanship, politics, etc. My nieces are National Honor Society, Suma Cum Laude with masters degrees in education. This last week I spent vacationing with the family and for the life of me I could not detect any interest they had in any subject or any skill. They are the most uninspiring, empty, full of nothing people I ever met. Both are elementary school teachers.in upscale school districts. They are not alone. A majority of their peers have no interest in even simple electronics, simple facts of nature etc. How does a person disinterseted in learning teach and inspire?

My sister and brother in law said the same thing of their own children, the teachers. My mother and grandmother was a very inspiring teachers but they were "old school" type teachers.
