is there really going to be a solar max in 2012?

What does a solar max do and can it destroy the world? And should i be worried about 2012? do you think any thing that is said to happen really going to happen? and did any scientist study this at all or is it just some guy saying this.
 
please, if you get your information from either The History Channel or Sunday School and feel you must participate and answer someone's question... stifle it.

the Solar Cycle is 22 years, but 11 is close enough as its a sine wave and who cares if its above or below the axis? Yes 2011 is the next maximum.

Hope its a doozy, but there is little evidence that it will be.

A big one might knock out a satellite or two, but nothing like the US did when it tested atom bombs in space! We knocked out 1/3 of all the working satellites. Woooo! Imagine if that happened again? The insurance companies would be in line for a Federal Bail-Out!

Remember the Solar Max in 2000? No? That's sad... it was pretty big, too.
