My fiance claims he was in the military: a marine for a year then transferred to Navy Seals and was an E9 when his service ended. Coming from a military family (retired), my mother knew this wasn't possible. He claims he didn't save anything from his military days, ie military ID, any papers, although says he has 4 purple hearts. Also says he was deployed in Iraq throughout his entire service. His family has no knowledge of his service because he did not tell them. Since he is not my husband, yet, is there a way for me to get liable proof that he was in the service?

I hope your planting a garden because I can tell you right now that's a load of Bull$#!t.

First it takes close to a decade to make E-8. The Army only has 1 E-9 the Marine Corps E-8s report to a Navy E-9 again only one.

Second a S.E.A.L. team slot requires years of training I have a friend who is a medic on a S.E.A.L. team his first 4 years in the Navy was one school after another.

If however you need paperwork you can contact the V.A. and see if he has a DD-214 on file. If he has any purple hearts the V.A. will know because they entitle him to health care for the rest of his life.
