Olympics and Trials? Do you think there would have been enough interest for an American city to host the FINA World Championships , all Olympic Aquatic sports such as Swimming, Diving, Water Polo and Synchronized Swimming , or would it have been met with a collective yawn. In 2009 and 2011 you still could of had Michael Phelps.
Instead 2009 will be in Rome and 2011 will be in Shanghai.
I would like to figure out given all the people that are involved in swimming either competitively or recreational would support such an event of high International caliber as spectators. A FINA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP would have best swimmers in the world just not the Olympic trappings.
It would be held in late July or early August a quite time of year on the American sports calendar.
