I absolutely love to discuss Herman Melville's "Moby-Dick" - it's the deepest piece of literature I have ever read. It can be analyzed and interpreted on so many levels - one of the most complex works ever written. Also a great discussion piece is Franz Kafka's short story "The Metamorphosis," which can be viewed from an existential, psychological, religious, or Marxist perspective, plus many others.
