I pay almost $1,000 to my (almost) ex every 2 weeks for child support of our 4 children, and I am not complaining about that obligation. I love my children, and I see them usually twice a week, and have them every other weekend, plus I still drive my older two to school in the morning. So I'm far from being a "deadbeat dad" in many senses of the words.
My rent is very high, and my landlord does not provide utilities, but with needing room for 4 kids when they're over, I'm at the minimum apartment size I can be in. I'm living a very miserly lifestyle, no cable, the Walmart cell phone, etc, I even pick up some extra hours at a 2nd job when I can, flip things on Craigslist, etc. but I'm still falling short at the end of the month.
Is there financial assistance available for a Dad in my situation?
As always, thanks in advance for any/all information!
Ouragon, So many kids because 1 was conceived on birth control, and 2 (twins) were conceived _AFTER_ the vasectomy.
Alwayswv, great idea, and you "source" literally made me LOL.
Marilyn, - see above - vasectomy was _BEFORE_ kids 3 and 4, recanilization happens in about 5% of patients, which means it's 95% effective, or fails in 1 in 20, however, in this particular point anyway, the ex is not taking advantage of me, she's willing to accept this amount, just went through what the state would mandate with my lawyer, and it would be HIGHER believe it or not, as for buses in the state of NJ they are only provided if you are crossing a highway (not a bridge over a highway, but crossing one) and in their town, they don't (small town, only 2.5 square miles)
Common - Already have 2 trundle beds in 1 bedroom, it's only a 2 bedroom apartment, the kids all share the one room already. Thx for the thought though.
Rowdy - I'm visitng them twice a week, not the other way, I go to their house, I bring dinner once a week (usually pizza) and have them every other weekend, otherwise ex usually gives me dinner the nights I'm over.
Queen - cpl of problems with that, 1st, I work full time, so it be hard for me to have them a full 1/2 the time, and 2nd, not sure that would be the best thing for them on a mental level, it doesn't give them a very stable home life being shifted back and forth all the time. :/
