Is there financial assistance available (not a loan) for doing a legal practice course.?

Close to finishing degree , is there any possibility of obtaining a financial award to cover and continue onto a LPC? I don't want to come this far and then have to call it a day. Thanks
Hi Ivan , Personally find it a totally bizzare set up. A person can put years into study and then if they cannot obtain the neccesary funding( which by hook or by crook I shall some how ) or that final placement, it's all been for nothing. That is truly an unfair system(I believe it's the same for Doctors?) and such a waste, of some of the cleverest people in society.

(ANS) My best friends daughter who has just completed her degree in law and now completed her placement with a legal firm has just completed her articles and become a lawyer. Sadly, due to the good level of remuneration that its possible to earn per year as a lawyer or solicitor its an incredibly fiercely competitive industry to get into. I'm sure you must know this already yourself.

**Because its so fiercely competitive you will probably also be up against others pursuing the same path into the profession who are more well funded than yourself.

**Currently more than 80% of people who attempt entry into the legal profession fail too do so because applicants are chosen (creamed off) only if there talent or criteria match the highest standards now. The bar so too speak has never been higher and deliberately so to exclude those that might otherwise has gained entry in the past. This guarantees to keep the legal profession as elite and narrowly defined as ever before.

**I think your real chances of some kind of funding in the current economic climate are extremely thin. I don't want to put you off trying but I think a measure of realism is required. :-((

**In the past you might have been eligible for something like a career development loan but with the credit crunch not a hope.
