Is there anywhere to go hiking in central Connecticut?

I'm looking to meet family in Middletown, CT this sunday. We're not familiar with the area but it's 1/2 way for us to meet, and we wanted to go for a hike since it's going to be so nice out. Does anyone know of any parks or hiking trails close to Middletown?
 
About 1/2 hour away is Sleeping Giant Park.
