Is there anyway to train my fish?

I recently got my betta fish Michael Phelps aka Fuego :] And i wanna know if there's a way to train him to do tricks (swim through a hoop, train him to know when feeding is, etc)

Also, how often should i feed my fish? I have pellets and they aren't alot the cashier recommended it they take up a corner of a small Ziploc bag.

And, any tips on how to keep your pet healthy and happy?
