Is there anyway I can get my 01 Ford Escape to "forget" previous key-fob remotes?

Okay, today I lost the remote keyless entry remote (keyfob) to my 01 Ford Escape. While I am going to buy another keyfob, I was wondering if there was any way to get my car to "forget" a previous keyfob so that if someone did happen to find mine they could not use it to gain access to my car. I am unsure how to do this or if it is even possible so any help would be greatly appreciated.
