1 stereo jack or optical? I have a 5.1 channel Dell 5650 speakers and I want to connect it to my Samsung Plasma TV. Unfortunately, my TV only has RCA, an optical and a 3.5mm output for headphone.

What I want to do is connect the speakers to the TV so I can get true surround sound instead of just making all the speakers work. Either connect it to the optical cable or to the stereo headset output.

Is there any converter available? Like a 3x3.5mm stereo jack female to 1x3.5 stereo jack male or a 3x3.5mm stereo jack female to optical male?
 
you can either go to radio shack and buy a little converter

or you can cut the wires going to you speaker system and connect them to the right size jack, you can then just put some electric tape around the place where you connected the 2 wires and it should work fine
 
There are optical to RCA-stereo converters, but that will give you stereo only. Only an AV receiver can take 5.1 from optical and split it into 6 channels.
