Is there anything wrong with putting ads on street poles?

Whenever walking home I see people sticky tape ads for all sorts of things on poles.

However i just noticed at the MAIN busy crossings there always ripped off instantly.
is there anything wrong with putting those ads up?
because i am planning to put my ads at crossing lights soon.
And does anyone have any tips about putting these ads up?
