Is there anything I can do to reduce the shakiness with Albuterol?

Hey everyone. I was diagnosed with asthma a few years ago. Well, I rarely have an asthma attack but I frequently have trouble breathing so my doc prescribed a nebulizer for me a few months ago. Well, I have to use Albuterol with it but it makes me incredibly shaky and nervous. What can I do to reduce this?

Nothing. It's a normal side effect. However, most people find that over time the body adjusts to it and that subsides. I no longer have that. Some people have noticed that the new HFA inhalers don't seem to do that as much as the old style CFC ones. You might ask your doctor about an inhaler rather than the nebulizer.

Actually, I use both. I use the inhaler for portable use and the nebuliser for at home use.

Sometimes you just get used to it. I've found that caffeine helps even me out. Doesn't work for everyone though.

I've just gotten used to it over the years. For me, it is an acceptable trade-off for the benefit of the inhaler usage.

How often are you using your nebulizer and inhaler? If it is more than 4 times a day, that may be causing your reaction to be worse as well.

And just because you have the nebulizer doesn't mean you can't use the inhaler if it doesn't make you as shaky.
