One Baby Calls Me Mama!

My husband and I have been running a very tight budget for the past few months because we've been paying off an unexpected expense.We have no money to spend on anything 'fun' right now. August is the last month we will have this extra expense to worry about but after 3 months of being on total home confinement I am starting to go stir crazy. I want to get out of the house with my 10 month old son...
We live in Florida and it's far to hot to go to a park and he is too little to play at a park anyways.
Does anyone have any suggestions on anything I could do with him outside of the house for a couple hours?
I thought about going to the mall and letting him play in the baby play area and taking a book with me to read while I sit in there with him... Is that stupid? Would you go to the mall just to let your baby play?
Anybody have any other ideas?
