A Andrew New member Jul 19, 2010 #1 I know that nowadays most regular troops are given M4 carbines or occasionally the M16A4, but if a particular soldier wanted to use an M14 and there were surplus available, would he be allowed to, or can he only use the weapon he is assigned?
