We drained the gas tank and got the fuel pump out. There is a plug wire inside that is broke. Is there anything I can do to save $399 to get a new fuel pump? I hope this question makes sense. Help!
There might be 2 options.........some fuel pumps come 2 ways - as a "complete assembly" and "replacement pump only". The assembly is a drop in unit and comes ready to install. The "pump only" allows you to disassemble the unit and replace just the pump and then put it back together. I do not know if your Venture is this type or not.
If I understand your question, a plug connector at or near the pump is broken. So it's possible the pump is OK? Yes, faulty electrical connectors and broken wires can be fixed, but to make such a repair inside a fuel tank? NO competent Tech will want that liability. And done incorrectly could lead to a fire/explosion.
Check with the parts store and see if you might install an inline electric fuel pump instead of the new original pump. It may mean a few minor changes but I believe it would work.
