...the military? I would really like to become a commercial airline pilot. But I do not want to go into the military at all. Is there any way I could become like a 747 pilot if I worked my way up through flight school?
 
Yes, it's absolutely possible. You don't need to go through the military to become a commercial pilot. Airlines will hire you based on your certifications and your flying experience. The flying experience can be either military or civilian.
