i am currently using a tmobile android phone that i bought from my friend. however i do not a have a data plan. my mom called someone at tmobile and they said the phone would lock up soon and not work at all (not even for calling, texting, etc) without an internet plan. i am speculating that they only said that to get money because three days later it's working and i am using it fine. it should not be charging any internet fees because everytime i click internet browser, if i am not connected to free wifi access (it is a wifi enabled phone) the internet locks up and the updates on the android are from hours ago, when the phone had internet. i was wondering, they wont charge me internet fees if its saying on the screen i need a data plan to go on the internet correct? i use free wifi instead. i probably am not supposed to be doing this, but whatever xD
