i have a large fish tank with just gold fish
but they tank is always dirty unless i completly change all the water
but i cant do that cuz changing thhat pale by pale takes hours
and i change the filters way more often then normal

oh and my wants 2 hook the filter up 2 2 tanks!!!
it barely works for the one!!

You should never completely change all the water, well unless you redo your entire tank and are willing to redo the entire nitrogen cycle. You should be doing partial water changes at least every week, I change my water (not ALL of it, usually 10-20%) 2 or 3x a week and vacuum the gravel. If you routinely do partial water changes your tank should stay clean, mabey invest in a better filter, each filter only filters a certain amount of water per hour. You could get some cleaner fish, depending on the size of tank and the way its set up and maintained

If you want snails, you'd better prepared to get a lot of baby snails since they reproduce like no tomorrow. Because of this, there have been lots of people trying to get rid of them.

I recommend putting live plants in there.
Pros of live plants:
Absorbs CO2 (in daylight)
Gives off O2 (in daylight)
Absorbs toxins
Harbors beneficial bacteria
Serves as food source
Inhibits algae growth

If your goldfishes poop a lot, there's really nothing that will clean that up unless you do it yourself.

When this happens, I recommend you to use a siphon, which is like a vacuum so that you don't have to do everything pail by pail.

Take a look at this article; it'll tell you how to make and use your own. =]

lots of plants and snails will keep the algae down and the tank cleaner longer.I had goldfish was was cleaning the tank every week, now I have guppies and I only have to clean it once a month.

Feed less often...feed less than you are feeding. Don't overcrowd the tank, use better filtration, use a nitrate absorbing medium in the filters.

This bad boy will help clean your tank as well as save your back from lifting pales

Or you can buy a regular gravel vacuum, but you will have to use pales still.

By the way, never change all the water. Just take out 20% of the water and replace it with clean dechlorinated water(buy some dechlorinator which is cheap)

do this once a week.
