is there any possible way that i can get wifi on my htc touch from alltel?

i bought an htc touch from alltell and i heard that they disabled the wifi because of battery consumption and i was wondering if theres any other way that i can get wifi.. please let me know
*oh and i was also wondering if anyone knows how i can install games from my pc to the phone:/
*and how do you turn off the keypad when dialing?! its annoying me so bad..
BUT without turning off the volume?
